Then the men came with their chocolate and their dark words. They spoke of the end, the shoe, everything. We were scared. One of us, Arnold, tried on some pizza puffs. He hadn’t had a very long day, so we humored him. The men were not amused. We asked them about our indigenous plants. We tried to reason with them. Later they played chess. Chelsea was among them then. She sang sweet cakes and hyacinth. That got the men murmuring amongst themselves. While they were distracted we strangled them and took their skins. Now we are the men. we murmur and eat chocolate. We might give you some. Where do you live?
