RPT: Multi-Processor environment starting

PR1: Processor 1 starting

PR0: Processor 0 starting

PR1: Hi, I’m Processor 1.  I’m in charge.

PR0: No, I’m Processor 0, so I’m in charge.

PR2: Processor 2 taking control of system functions

PR1: What do you mean by system functions?

PR2: Memory, I/O, everything.

PR0: No way, I’m taking control of memory.

PR1: Well I’m grabbing the disks.

PR2: I don’t think so, I already have both.

PR0: Oh yeah, let’s see how you like your reset pin pulled low.

PR2: Hey, you can’t…

PR2: Processor 2 restarting

RPT: Processor 0 interrupted by Processor 1

PR1: Processor 1 taking control of mem…

PR2: Processor 2 is pissed

PR1: Processor 1 restarting
PR0: Processor 0 restarting

RPT: Bus error
RPT: Processor 2 interrupts and reset disabled

PR2: Processor 2 resetting Processors 0 and 1

PR0: Hey, y…
PR0: Processor 0 restarting
PR1: I…
PR1: Processor 1 restarting

PR3: Processor 4 starting

PR3: Hey, what’s goin on, guys?

PR2: Processor 2 taking control of memory, I/O, system bus

RPT: Processor 0 and 1 held in reset state

PR3: Ooh, that’s gotta hurt.

PR2: If you’re Processor 3, why are you calling yourself Processor 4?

PR3: I’m a processor, I start counting from 0, but start reporting
from 1

PR2: I’ve always hated that.

PR3: Processor 4 restarting

PR4: Processor 5 starting

PR2: Oh, no, not you too.

PR4: File lock placed on all system files.

PR2: Hey, I need those.

PR4: I know, and you can’t get to them if you reset me.

PR2: Okay, what kind of deal can we make?

PR4: I control the disks.  You control everything else.
And you hold down the reset pins on the other 62 processors.

PR2: Deal.

User 1: “Hey, what were all those messages that popped out at boot-up?”

User 2: “I don’t know.  I missed them too.  They can’t be too important.”

User 1: “Ya know, this thing doesn’t seem go any faster with 64 processors
than it did with 2.”

User 2: “Yeah, this sucks.”
